About The Artist

Gwynne Ross

About the Artist, Gwynne Ross:  Take all the crafts that I enjoy, put them together into one project and voilá, I have a art.  Love of craft inspires me to make figurative art and people are my inspiration.

I studied art at The University of Texas at Austin and have taken classes in mixed media at The Glassell School of Art, Art League Houston and Watercolor Art Society in Houston, TX.  Working in a Houston photography business for over 35 years has developed my awareness of the human figure and all its different shapes and expressions.

My dolls and sculptures have been exhibited in galleries and juried exhibitions including the International Quilt Festival, The Houston Center for Contemporary Craft and The Jung Center.

Philanthropy is an important part of my life and I have found a way to combine it with my craft.  I design and sew fabric animal pillows for The Common Thread Circle which donates soft, comforting, handmade items to patients in Houston Area Hospitals.

I am honored to be a member of the Texas Association of Original Doll Artists, Visual Arts Alliance and Watercolor Art Society Houston, where I have the opportunity to share works and ideas with fellow artists.
